A memorial award has been created to honor former Fort St. John conservation officer Tristan Montjoy, who passed away in June of 2021 at age 24. Tristan, known for his dedication, positivity, and passion for natural resource protection, left a lasting impact on his community. Before joining the conservation service, he excelled in the Bachelor of Natural Resource Protection program at Vancouver Island University.

Tristan was also a devoted hockey player, earning the "biggest heart" award year after year—a true reflection of his character. The scholarship will support students pursuing careers in natural resource protection, ensuring his legacy continues.

The Tristan Montjoy Memorial Award is available to students in the Resource Management Officer Technology or Bachelor of Natural Resource Protection program with selection based on positive attitude, support of classmates, and commitment to their studies. Preference will be given to Indigenous learners.
